Sacristy

Mardorf, Germany

The new sacristy complements the historic ensemble of the churchyard. Its fa├žade quotes the neighboring parish church in materiality and building figure and encloses the entire cubature with a skin of porphyry. A light canopy connects the buildings and allows a protected transition from the vestry to the. The parallel position of the vestry to the nave of the church creates a calmed courtyard, which provides space for parish celebrations. The historic foundations of the church are highlighted in its paving.
