Sacristy

Mardorf, Germany

The new sacristy complements the historic ensemble of the churchyard. Its façade quotes the neighboring parish church in materiality and building figure and encloses the entire cubature with a skin of porphyry. A light canopy connects the buildings and allows a protected transition from the vestry to the. The parallel position of the vestry to the nave of the church creates a calmed courtyard, which provides space for parish celebrations. The historic foundations of the church are highlighted in its paving.
