The design concept sees the building as an integral part of the urban structure of Lübeck's old town, whereby the basic design idea develops around the typology of the gabled house. Based on the small-scale development structure of the old town center, the building cubature is divided into three houses lined up next to each other. The folding of the gable front on Markttwiete develops important urban references between the adjacent street space and the building front along the northern town hall square. The two-story arcade picks up on the location of the historic town hall arcade and continues it. Via the tapering street space on Markttwiete, the spatial setting of the market square is strengthened.
