Leopold Street Residential and Commercial Building

Munich, Germany

The concept focuses on the creation of a high-quality, multifunctional commercial building at the intersection of Leopold street and Hohenzollern street in one of Munich's most popular districts. The new building can profit from the attraction of the internationally known boulevard Leopold street and the hardly less interesting mix of uses on Hohenzollern street.

The design picks up on the typology of the often pavilion-like corner building at the neighboring street junctions. The house opens up to the passerby with a two-story transparent base to the street space and with a corpus that is also structured across the floors. The solitary character of the house is emphasized with a concise roof figure and the outer skin leading over the corpus and roof in the same materiality.
